Endotontics is a branch of dentistry dedicated to the treatment of the pulp chamber, that is, the interior of the tooth wherein is located the pulp, a substance containing nerves and blood vessels. Endotontic treatments are also called “root canals”. A root canal consists of removing infected pulp from a tooth, as in the case of a dental abscess. This type of procedure might also be used to retrieve healthy pulp that could then be used to rebuild a severely damaged tooth with the help of a post and crown.
